The Healthcare Cost Solutions, LLC team has years of progressive experience in health care supply chain management, occurring over the last thirty years. We assisted in moving the industry from “Purchasing” to “Materials Management” to “Materiel Resource Management,” and more recently to “Supply Chain Management.” We have observed and learned through each step in this evolution, seeing the need for supply chain professionals to expand their roles to become more strategic in their orientation and impact, expanding their role to facilitate clinical product value analysis and selection, while continuing to make sure the basic operational necessities of getting the right product, at the right price, at the right time to the right place.
Our experience in not-for-profit and investor-owned hospitals, ranging from small community hospitals to large academic medical centers and IDNs has given us an understanding of critical success factors, best practices, and the essentials of a foundation for effective supply chain operations. We also have a “tool chest” of articles, forms, policies and procedures, job descriptions, etc., from which to draw to validate or guide decisions.
Operational Assessments -- We start with proven data collection tools, and learn as much as we can about your organization, financial challenges and opportunities, supply chain organization, business processes, ERP or Materials Management Information System, outcomes, and current objectives for improvement. We compare this information with our extensive collection of resources which include benchmarks, case studies, best practices, lessons learned from others. We identify specific highest-impact recommendations to help you achieve your stated objectives.
Operational Redesign -- We have assisted individual hospitals in redesigning their supply chain functions, as well as large IDNs in designing corporate-level functions, and their ongoing relationship to local system roles and functions. These redesigns have encompassed a full gamut of defining job descriptions, recruiting, and training, as well as documenting policies and procedures and business processes required to support of the redesigned organization.
Planning, Implementation and Execution -- Based upon our assessment, our recommendations, and your feedback, we develop a customized roadmap for implementing agreed upon organizational and operational improvements. We like to be actively engaged to assist you in implementing any recommendations we make. In planning, implementation and execution, we utilize a formal project management model to ensure rigorous status tracking of tasks, responsibilities, milestones, issues management, as well as monitoring achievement of results
